England National Team Coaches Rugby Clinic in STAR

I am now dotting the ‘I’s and crossing the ‘T’s in order to bring 3 National School Rugby Coaches from England to STAR for STAR’s 2011 Rugby Excellence Program this coming April. Let’s hope that the final dash will be a smooth one.

Coaches brief introduction:-
Stephen Shortland
Stephen is an MSc holder in Recreation Management from Loughborough University in England, Stephen is currently is the Director of Sports in Wellington College in Berkshire, England.
He was a lock for the England’s 1990-91 Rugby Squad. He has also represented England Students and England U21 Squad. Stephen played his club rugby for Wasps RUFC in England and played semi-professional for Blackheath RUFC in England and Brisbane RUFC in Australia.
He was England’s U21, U18 and young 7s coach, and currently is the U16 England’s coach.
Stephan is a Level 3 RFU certified coach (ongoing level 4) and a Rugby Coach Educator.
Andrew Marriott
Andrew is a history teacher in Bryanston School with a BA in history and a post graduate certificate of education from Swansea University.
He played his club rugby in Swansea and Neath RUFC and Bath RUFC as a member of their 1st XV team. He also captained the Universities Athletics Union (the British representative University side) and WelshUniversity. He played county rugby at Glucestershire and Dorset& Whilshire, both as captain.
Andrew is a level 3 WRFU coach and coach educator. He is currently the coach and national selector for England U-16 team.
Michael Pyrgos
Michael teachers Economics in Bryanston School, and is a BSc Sports Science, Economic and Management from Loughborough University in England. He also has a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from the same University.
He played his club rugby as the 1st XV for Harlequins RFUC in London. He also representedLoughborough University, Universities Athletics Union, Sussex and Leicestershire County, and RFU Midlands Division in the English Divisional Championship.
Michael is currently a level 3 RFU coach and coach educator often giving coaching seminars (15s and 7s) during the Annual National Independent School Rugby Conference.
Michael is now the Team Manager and National Selector for the England’s U16 team.
This will be the first phase of STAR’s International School Partnership Program, and there will a few more to come, and hopefully it will make STAR the best School in Malaysia.
