RM100 student aid: school deducted RM50

KUALA LUMPUR: A primary school in Keramat here which allegedly deducted RM50 from the RM100 aid under Budget 2012 has been directed to return the money immediately.

Education director Datuk Khairil Awang said he contacted the headmaster of the school on Wednesday to cancel the deduction and to return the money as soon as possible.

"When I found out about the matter, as informed by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday, I immediately contacted the school to quickly return the schooling aid it deducted," he told reporters.

The issue was raised by the father of a pupil at the school during a question and answer session with Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister.

A total RM550mil was allocated by the government as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when tabling the 2012 Budget. BERNAMA
