Datuk Hamzah Launched a Gazebo at STAR
Datuk Hamzah Zainudin, Deputy Minister of Plantations and Commodities today handed over to the school a gazebo built and financed by MTIB (Malaysian Timber Industry Board). Also present during the ceremony was Prof. Madya Dr. Jalaluddin Harun, the Director-General of MTIB. Last year Friends of STAR had requested the gazebo from MTIB via Dato' Hamzah to provide avenue for students to conduct shows like music and drama and hopefully as "a speaker's corner" to develop public speaking among the students.
The RM70,000 gazebo is based on the old Perak "rumah kutai" design.
The gazebo is located just opposite the STAR Cafe, a cafeteria financed and built by Friends of STAR for the benefit of the students.
