Malaysia ranked 29th in Freedom Of Press Report 2012

Malaysia is ranked 29th among 40 countries in the Asia-Pacific region in the Freedom of the Press 2012 report. Thailand is ranked 28th, Singapore 32nd, Indonesia 22nd, Brunei 35th  and Laos 36th. 

Malaysia was ranked 31st last year. As of May 1, 2008, the United Nations has 192 official members.

The report was released by US-based think tank Freedom House in conjunction with World Press Freedom Day on Thursday. The index assesses the degree of press freedom by examining legal, political and economical influences on their press.
